THE PEOPLES
The gold from the batholith and its satellites has shaped the history of this region. Here, one can still observe the deep cultural connection to the land, its mines, its crops, and its products like panela (unrefined cane sugar), as well as to ancestral knowledge. We are a culture of horses, panela, mules, inns, coffee, and cacao. We all remember the history of the La Quiebra tunnel and the history of the train. This geopark will unite our geodiversity and biodiversity with our culture. The towns are:
EL PEÑOL, GUATAPÉ, ALEJANDRÍA, CONCEPCIÓN, SANTO DOMINGO, CISNEROS, SAN ROQUE, MACEO, CARACOLÍ, YOLOMBÓ, YALÍ AMALFI
All the towns in the Tahamí Geopark have excellent roads and are located no more than two and a half hours from Medellín. This accessibility makes it very easy to reach and enjoy this wonderful region.

Antioquia es Mágica is the tourism program of the Department of Antioquia that seeks to position and strengthen the municipalities of the Department as tourist territories at the local, regional, national and international level; through the development of specialized markets, the installation of territorial capacities and marketing focused on knowledge, talents and experiences.
Antioquia has 9 subregions and 125 municipalities, which were categorized and prioritized based on technical criteria to carry out tourism promotion and intervention in phases. In 2020, the first phase began with 20 "magical" municipalities; in 2022, 15 more were added, bringing the total to 35. This number is expected to increase progressively as we work closely with the municipal governments and partner organizations.
Within the 35 magical municipalities, there are 3 from the geopark that are magical municipalities: Santo Domingo, Concepción, Guatapé.

The award was presented by Procolombia as part of the Colombia Tourism Awards 2023.
Also highlighted was the work done with the magazine Antioquia es Mágica within the framework of the Gastronomic Writing Awards.
On November 21, the Antioquia es Mágica Program, which works to promote tourism in the department through the experiences, talents and knowledge of the different municipalities of Antioquia, was recognized as the best regional tourism articulation strategy, within the framework of the Colombia Tourism Awards given by Procolombia every year.
This award is given for the work developed in partnership with the private sector, academia and various trade associations to promote Antioquia as a tourist destination, which has resulted in increased promotion, greater efficiency in resource management and a unified message that benefits the international promotion of the region.
"We are filled with pride because this is an endorsement of the work done during this four-year period. But it is also a challenge because this award presents us with the question of how to continue on this path of doing things very well so that Antioquia becomes the leading tourist destination in Colombia," said Claudia Márquez, First Lady of Antioquia.
