Cave of the troglodyte fish
GEOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION.
Along the San Lorenzo River in Alejandria, one can find significant accumulations of rocks (mostly round) at certain points, forming cavern-like formations. These constitute what is known as an 'organal,' a term used in some regions of Antioquia to refer to large rock accumulations that, by overlapping haphazardly, create interstitial spaces through which it is possible to move, albeit with difficulty.
The blocks are derived from the re-elevation of the batholith, favored by fracturing, and their size indicates the spacing of the fractures (TWIDALE 1982). The accumulation of these blocks in stream channels constitutes the organales.

These caverns owe their name to the fish that abounds in their waters, the Chere. Inside, there are numerous small, irregularly shaped chambers, narrow passages, and labyrinths that require the assistance of an experienced guide. The surrounding area is rich in flora and fauna and is an ideal setting for adventure tourism, enjoying the scenery, and experiencing nature.
