Advisor: Sofía Botero Páez
Summary
The geographic area where the petroglyphs are located in the Nus River valley, within the jurisdiction of the municipality of Yolombó, in the northeastern subregion of the department of Antioquia, is recorded and analyzed. The rock art found there is examined as a material element of the pre-Hispanic world, useful for better understanding the motivations of its creators. The arrangement of the eleven rocks found is presented, along with how this spatial arrangement is closely related to the way in which the groups organized themselves and inhabited the area. New data are also presented that allow Yolombó and Antioquia to be included within a continental archaeological tradition. Keywords: Antioquia, archaeology, rock art, Colombia, petroglyphs, Nus River
